4 Reasons Why Oblique Sling Training Will Bring You Better Results
October 26, 2018 FITNESS // See All

First, oblique sling exercise can be simply defined as exercise that transfers force through the trunk (core) to produce rotational movements in order to activate our anterior (front) and posterior (back) slings that run from opposite shoulder to opposite hip.

This allows us to achieve ultimate stabilization (series 3 video) and functional joint centration (series 2 video) across several joints in the body. It is the muscular and fascial aspects of slings that make crawling, throwing, and swinging possible for us to perform.

We use our oblique slings every day for almost everything we do. Reaching across from the sink to the dishwasher to put away dishes, playing catch with a ball, and even walking requires the use of our slings. This is CRUCIAL, not only in terms of your results, but as well as your longevity.

Here are four benefits of oblique sling exercise complemented with principles of DNS applied to movement:

1. Back, hip, and shoulder pain can be reduced due to the spine’s ability to be stabilized in several positions with proper alignment of the hips and shoulders

2. Maneuvering using oblique sling exercises will ensure optimal positioning (functional joint centration) and coordination to improve balance

3. Oblique sling exercises activate muscles in the legs, core, and shoulders in such a stabilizing manner that has been led to prevent ACL injuries and back injuries

4. The quality of movement under higher demand conditions during training will be positively affected (more muscle activation)
